I'm really excited about a new product I'm using called "in deluxe" and it allows me to take an existing invitation card or accessory and make a new look by changing the color of the design, the background color, the layout, or the fonts.

The best part about it is that it's printed "in-house" -- so the finished product is available within 2 days, usually less. Plus, there is no minimum requirement -- you can get as few as 2 invitations, or as many as you need. And, if you need to have additional ones printed later, there is no extra fee! The invitations are perfect for:

• Brunches
• Anniversary Parties
• Retirement Parties

There is almost no limit to what you can create! Here are a few examples:

Here we have a bridal shower invitation. The bridesmaid wanted to emphasize the bride's color scheme, which included light pink, hot pink and cornflower blue. So, the background color was changed from pale yellow to light pink. The leaf design became hot pink and cornflower blue instead of periwinkle and white. The bride's name was done in hot pink, and was capitalized. The text layout also changed.

So, the Engagement Party invitation on the left is set up with a light aqua background. Minimal changes were made to give it a totally new look for the Save the Date card on the right. The background was changed to ecru to give a more formal look. The couple wanted to emphasize that it was a Save the Date card, so "Save the Date" was placed inside the design. Because the design is on a neutral background, it really shows up much better! The couple was satisfied with the fonts, so these remained the same.

The Save the Date card on the left was changed to a Kitchen Shower invitation on the right. The light blue background became white, and the hydrangea flowers changed from purple to peacock blue. The text was changed to a script, with the bride's name matching the peacock blue of the flowers. And the invitation layout was changed from horizontal to vertical. Such a difference!

The anniversary invitation on the left was changed to a 25th anniversary for friends. The background color was changed from pale yellow to celadon green. The text was expanded and both the block font and the script font were changed to be more decorative. The color of the leaf design was changed from tan and brown to sage green and rust. It's hard to believe that it's the same invitation!

Menu Cards

It's really nice to be able to let your guests know what they will be eating at your wedding. There are so many ways to do this - place a menu at each guest's place . . . it could be folded into the napkin, placed on the charger plate, placed in front of the wine or water glass . . . or any place else you like. Or, you could do one or two menus per table . . . the menu can be placed in a decorative picture frame, or on a small table easel. If you're having a buffet, a large menu can be placed at either end of the buffet table. Here are a few examples of menu cards.

is tied with a wide organza ribbon.

This is a menu designed for a destination wedding in Florida
and features a palm tree at the top, with accents in
a deep pink to match the color scheme of the wedding.

The menu is inserted into the fold of the napkin, and a sprig of 
herbs is placed over the menu. You can also see the customized
table card with the couple's monogram.

Here are a few different styles of menus:

The menu on the left features the cherry blossoms
 that were part of the wedding theme.
The green text matches the color scheme.
The middle menu is quite modern and features the
burgundy heading to match the autumn wedding theme.

Escort and Place Cards

When you're having a dinner, it's always best to assign tables (it's a bit of a job, but it's worth it - it cuts down on confusion when people enter the room with the dinner tables. The cards that tell people where to sit are called escort cards, although many refer to them as place cards.

The place cards actually go on the table and tell people exactly where they will be sitting. Place cards are not always necessary, but escort cards really are helpful. The escort cards are usually tented - and stand up when placed on a table.
Envelope escort cards are very practical, as well as beautiful. The name of the guest goes on the envelope, which is always unsealed. The table number (or name) goes on a card that is inserted into the envelope. The advantage of the envelopes is that last minute changes are simple - no cards to reprint - just switch the inserts!

The card on the bottom left features an Irish Claddagh 

design and allows the couple to fill in the table number at the last minute.

Here are some very decorative escort cards - they matched 

a contemporary invitation. You are seeing the back of the card. 

The front had the guest's name and table number.

These are envelope escort cards. The front of the envelope contains the guest's name and the card inside contains the table number. This escort card also contains the couple's 2-letter monogram at the top. It matches a menu (seen above) and table card (seen below).

Table Cards

And now for some table cards - these are the table numbers (or names, if you prefer to name your tables instead of using numbers).

Table cards usually are placed into a table stand - gold, silver, black, or any other color to match your decor. Here are just a few table stands - these and others are available for rental - you don't have to be stuck with a bunch of easels or stands that you'll never use again!:

Below are some table cards to be placed in a stand or a lovely picture frame.

The table cards can be created in a color to match your color scheme.
We can add graphics, or create a monogram, or just use
a very decorative type style for the number or text.
And you can add a little class by  spelling out the number.
The possibilities are endless!

This "drink" card was placed on the bar, and gave descriptions of the customized drinks available for guests.

Welcome to Lettering by Lynne's blog! Here are all the new items coming in to Lettering by Lynne. I'm working with really wonderful invitation companies which produce beautiful invitations. My specialty is providing unique invitations and accessories - not just the ones you receive or see all the time - along with very personalized one-on-one service. My favorite invitation companies are coming out with new albums in January, and I'll add some of the new ones here. I'll show you a few of the wonderful invitations that are available now.

in a bright yellow and white format with embossed daisies.

It's nice to carry through a theme on all the paper products -

starting with the Save the Date, and ending with the menu.

Now for a different look, from Arabella Papers, a new company that produces amazing, colorful designs. Arabella uses a special printing process known as Bellpress - a new raised printing method for high end invitations featuring rich textures, crisp detail, and outstanding design flexibility.

Here we have "Peony Vines" -

a lovely invitation enclosed in a folder

tied with a ribbon and tag

and featuring a pocket to hold the enclosures.

It makes a very elegant statement -

and look at the envelope with the peony vine

on the address flap.

We also feature ethnic invitations: Hindu/Indian, Judaic, Middle Eastern, Oriental. Here are two examples of Oriental invitations.
